– hearing the voice
With Durham University, funded by Wellcome. Susi collaborated with voice-hearers to make short films, bringing in Bill Bartlett for binaural sound recording.
First was Adam (Plus One): his location-based self-portrait premiered in the season ‘Wonder: Art and Science on the Brain’ at London’s Barbican cinema.
Next came ‘Believe Brian’; this voice-hearer had an equally intense but very different set of experiences, and relationship to the voice they hear. The films can’t be shared here for safeguarding reasons, but contact MedHums at Durham to make professional contact.
Muybridge, movement and me
Kingston-upon-Thames was home to Eadweard Muybridge; the museum’s collection of his work was showcased in the exhibition ‘Muybridge Revolutions’. Susi worked with Crispin Hughes to train and support a group of local people in making their own films – using compact digital cameras and time-lapse photography – for an exhibition at the Stanley Picker Gallery.
